Imagine that you are on the road again. No, I don't mean cruising down the boulevard in your Mercedes; you are walking down a long and dusty dirt road in blistering heat. All you have to quench your parched throat is a small bottle of cloudy, discolored water from a source that has been linked to countless cases of dysentery. Four kilometers, under such conditions, is never a casual stroll, but your persistent malaria symptoms make it seem more like forty.
Why would you embark on such an arduous journey? Well, imagine further that you are in a foreign land, with no hope of returning home, and no right to seek employment. Fleeing your homeland was the only way of protecting your family from the band of armed thugs who invaded your village, and who would stop at nothing to realize their agenda to turn your country into a fundamentalist bible-based theocracy.
By the kindness of a few close friends, you and your family have barely managed to survive so far, but without outside help, your prospects for delivering your family from abject poverty are bleak at best. Despite their generosity and good intentions, your friends are not able to provide that level of support. The internet is your best bet, and the closest access point is at the end of that long and dusty dirt road.

the course of time, the project we started in March 2005, to help the
Okello* family to recovery, has evolved and expanded to include nearly
20 pages on our website. It has been brought to our attention
